FULTON – The 36th annual Fulton Memorial Day Salute was held on May 27.
A large crowd watched as many bands, dance groups and floats passed by, representing this year’s theme “Stars and Stripes Forever.”
A parade is music, with bands of different sizes and sounds and the winner of “The Grand Marshal Award” was Downbeat Percussion.
The “Best Music Trophy” was awarded to Naples High School Band.
Upstate Sandblasting won the “Theme Trophy.”
This group met all aspects of the parade theme.
There are always a large number of children’s groups in the parade, so the parade committee awards three trophies in the category of Children’s Groups.
The first place in the Children’s Groups was awarded to N & N Dance.
Second place went to Central Square Middle School Marching Band and third place to Universal Pre-K.
Three trophies are given by the “Fulton Veterans’ Council” for which veterans’ groups and active military are eligible.
Winning first place in the Veterans’ group was the VFW Auxiliary.
Winning second place was Fulton Veterans’ Council Color Guard and taking third place was the Original Yanks.
The judges for the parade were the presidents of the four Fulton Service Clubs and a member of our local Veterans’ Council.
Representing Fulton Sunrise Rotary Club was Linda Rossiter, along with Kiwanis President, Jim Schreck, Noon Rotary President Helen Hoefer and Lions Club President Dave Guyer.
Donna Kestner, Director of the Oswego County Veterans Service Agency, was the representative from the Veterans’ Council.
