Alignment system expert visits OCB’s Adult Ed Auto Tech class

MEXICO – Roger Auger, a representative from Hunter Engineering Company was a recent guest speaker in the Adult Education Auto Tech class at Oswego County BOCES.

The class teaches students to use the new technology utilized by most large shops in the country including the computer-based wheel alignment system which utilizes high resolution cameras and targets that attach to the vehicle to allow for precision adjustments. Hunter Engineering Company designs, manufactures and sells a wide range of passenger car and truck service equipment including: computer-based wheel alignment systems, suspension and brake testing systems, wheel balancers, brake lathes, tire changers, and vehicle lifts.

Auger did a special demonstration of the auto program’s HawkEye Alignment system, manufactured by Hunter Engineering.

The HawkEye Alignment system features software that fully integrates the wheel alignment process into one highly efficient system.

It uses a series of automated features and intuitive software tools to save time and simplify the alignment procedure and is used in most large shops across the nation.

The students received hands on instruction using the computer-based system which utilizes high resolution cameras and targets that attach to the vehicle to allow for precision adjustments.

The 700-hour automotive technology program at OCB is designed to give students training in automotive electrical, electronic, and engine management systems, as well as diagnosis and repair of brake, steering and suspension systems on most domestic and foreign cars and light trucks.

It provides the student a comprehensive package that includes classroom theory, technical training using computerized training modules, real time lab work using problem vehicles, and internship time at a dealership or independent repair shop.

Students completing the course are eligible to take the NYS Vehicle Inspector exam and four ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) exams given in the spring and fall.
