Annie Get Your Gun Coming To Oswego

OSWEGO – “There’s no business like show business.”

Sound familiar?

It’s one of those tunes everyone recognizes and true to form, the Oswego Players will be showcasing this classic Irving Berlin song along with many other favorites when it presents “Annie Get Your Gun” in the Frances Marion Brown Theater July 26 to August 4.

As many of you know, the story is a fictionalized version of the life of Annie Oakley, a sharpshooter, and her romance with sharpshooter Frank E. Butler.

Both Annie and Frank showcased their talents in the Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show.

Matt Fleming will be directing the 1999 updated version of the original 1946 production.

As a result of the fantastic turn out for auditions, he is proud to announce his talented cast.

Cecelia Mitchell will be taking the stage in the title role of Annie Oakley and Derek Potocki will be returning to the FMB theater, this time, in the role of Frank Butler.

Dolly Tate will be a fun role for Jessie Dobrzynski and newcomer, Matthew Wood will play Charlie Davenport.

Joshua DeLorenzo, fresh off the stage from the OP production of “What the Rabbi Saw,” is cast as Buffalo Bill Cody.

Liam Kerr lends his talent to the role of Tommy Keeler and Samantha Scheer will shine as Winnie Tate.

Norman Berlin III gets to play Chief Sitting Bull and OP favorite Patrick Carman will play Pawnee Bill.

TAYA member Collin Hatch wins the role of Foster Wilson along with Ashley Haskins who will create the role of Mac.

The part of Little Jake will be shared between Annilea Murphy and Caylyn Salmonsen.

And finally Beatta Collins, the youngest member of the cast, will charm the viewers in the role of Nellie.

This is a huge production for such a little stage, Fleming said. But his production team has some fantastic ideas and plans are to create the magical atmosphere of a Wild West Circus.

In addition to the main characters, Fleming has a top-notch ensemble who will be singing and dancing to all the wonderful music.

Alli Kerr, Grace Syrell, Kaylee Delk, Alyssa Clavelli, Jared Mills, Jennifer Waugh, Cameron Waugh, Chris VanAntwerp, Phil Brady, Elaine Best, Katie Gerth, Michael Moss, Aries Pickens, Abigail Smith and Karlin Twiss round out the group.

There’s no business like show business and this show promises to be a highlight of the summer months.

“Annie Get Your Gun” opens July 26 and runs both weekends through August 4.
