OSWEGO COUNTY – Oswego County Workforce New York (OCWNY) encourages residents to boost their career opportunities by completing an ACT WorkKeys® assessment and earning a National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC). Assessments are offered twice each month for free and practice materials are available.
“WorkKeys and the NCRC give our residents a competitive edge in the job market while also showing employers that Oswego County has the workforce they need to grow and succeed,” said Rachel Pierce, director of Oswego County Workforce New York. “It’s a win for both job seekers and for the economic future of our region.”
The NCRC is a nationally recognized credential that demonstrates essential workplace skills in applied math, workplace documents and graphic literacy. It’s highly valued by employers across multiple industries as a reliable measure of workplace readiness.
For job seekers, it’s a portable credential that strengthens their applications and supports career advancement. For employers, it reduces hiring risks and helps identify strong candidates with the skills needed to succeed.
When residents earn an NCRC, they also contribute to Oswego County’s designation as a Work-Ready Community; a national initiative that showcases counties committed to building a skilled workforce. This recognition helps attract new businesses, support existing employers and prepare local workers for both current and future economic opportunities.
These initiatives come at a pivotal time for Oswego County. Major projects such as the Micron Technology megafab and growth in clean energy, manufacturing and construction fields are all expected to generate thousands of jobs across Central New York. By building a pool of certified, work-ready talent, the County is positioning itself as a leader in workforce development.
Residents interested in taking WorkKeys assessments and earning their NCRC can contact Oswego County Workforce New York at 315-591-9000 or [email protected][1].
