OSWEGO COUNTY – Multiple museums and historic sites participate in I Love New York’s “Path Through History” event this weekend, offering open houses, tours, re-enactments and more! Activities take place on Saturday and Sunday, June 14 and 15.
Join Fort Ontario State Historic Site on Saturday, June 14 for the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday celebration! The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the fort located at 1 E. First St., Oswego. It is free and open to the public and the program features a special ceremony with guest speakers, live re-enactments of U.S. Army war history presented by expert performers, tours of the Fort to learn what home life was like during the Revolutionary War and more.
The formal ceremony begins at 1 p.m. and complimentary desserts will be available to attendees. There will also be food trucks on-site such as Ji-Woo’s Korean Seoul Food, Ellen’s Eatery, Shannon’s Hot Dogs by Crystal, and Barlow’s Concessions.
The Safe Haven Museum and Education Center will also be open during the event.
The U.S. Army 250th birthday celebration is presented in partnership with the U.S. Army Syracuse Recruiting Battalion.

The John Wells Pratt House Museum also hosts activities this weekend! Visit the museum from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Check out the newest exhibits during the open house and meet “Mr. and Mrs. John Wells Pratt!” Exhibits include Chocolate Works and The Nestlé Factory, the end of the Civil War, and the end of World War II.
