Local Partnership Recognizes Mental Health During Public Health Week

Art Show Opens April 10 

OSWEGO COUNTY – The Oswego County Health Department and the Art Scene at CNY Arts Center partner to host a mental health art show as part of National Public Health Week. The event takes place on Thursday, April 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the CNY Arts Center, located at 121 Cayuga St., Fulton.

This year’s theme, “Mental Health: Unmasked” invites artists to explore and express the contrast between their outward appearances and their internal emotions. The goal of the show is to engage participants aged 12 and older to share their perspectives on mental health through art, fostering a dialogue across generations.

While attendees check out the art show, they can also enjoy live music by The Goodnight Ladies Singalong Band. The folk duo features Katie Donovan on the violin and Sarah Galvin on the banjo/guitar. The pair will perform music from the 1920s to 2020s, and attendees are free to sing along.

Snacks and drinks will be provided during the event courtesy of the Art Scene at CNY Arts Center.

National Public Health Week is held April 7-13 and serves to recognize and celebrate the hard work and dedication that goes into maintaining and promoting public health. In honor of the week, the Oswego County Health Department offers other free activities, such as:

• “Bite Back at Cancer” breast cancer screenings from the Upstate University Hospital Mammography Van: Tuesday, April 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Oswego County Health Department, 70 Bunner St., Oswego
• Kids Day Beach Party: Tuesday, April 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Catholic Charities of Oswego County, 808 W. Broadway, Fulton
