OSWEGO– The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) recently came to the Oswego Marina as part of its annual fish stocking program. Two trucks from the NYSDEC’s Salmon River Fish Hatchery delivered more than 138,000 Chinook salmon fingerlings into net pans, where they will stay for the next three weeks. Local charter captains will then tow the net pens out to the lake and release the fish. NYSDEC’s salmon stocking program helps enhance recreational fishing and restore native species to waters they formerly occupied. Pictured are salmon being pumped from a NYSDEC truck into a net pen.
