PARISH – In an effort to raise funds and awareness for the fight against childhood cancer, Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Junior /Senior High School Lady Rebels volleyball team will “Dig for Gold” on October 12 at the junior varsity and varsity games at the school in Parish.

“Dig for Gold” will benefit childhood cancer research through Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.

In 2016, the APW Lady Rebels decided to dedicate a game to raise awareness for cancer.

Jillian Mueller, a member of the Lady Rebels asked if the game could benefit childhood cancer research.

Her brother, Michael, is a two-time childhood cancer survivor.

Their mother, Cindy said, “Michael would not be alive without research efforts from organizations like ALSF.”

The APW Lady Rebels will “Dig for Gold” to raise money and awareness for childhood cancer research.

The teams will host the teams from Living Word Academy.

Donations will be accepted at the door.

Food and drinks will be available at the concession stand.

As part of their fundraising efforts, the team hosted a spaghetti dinner at Divots Restaurant at Streamside.

They hope to raise $3,000 which funds more than a week of research.
