MEXICO – Mexico Academy & Central School District’s great reputation and warm environment are what attracted Elizabeth DiCosimo to the area.

The district’s new Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning has 20 years of experience in education, as she began her career as a special education teacher before a natural progression to administrative roles. She arrived at MACS two months ago, having come from Chenango Valley Central Schools where she served as the assistant superintendent of schools and director of personnel.
DiCosimo’s professional pathway happened by chance, she said, after she studied French as an undergraduate at Syracuse University and then enrolled in S.U.’s special education master’s degree program.
“It just kind of happened,” she said. “I feel like I was drawn (education).”
And, she’s never turned back. While DiCosimo has already acclimated herself with MACS students and staff members, she said she is looking forward to continue the support of both of those populations throughout the school year.
As the assistant superintendent for teaching and learning, DiCosimo is in charge of personnel and 9-12 curriculum.
Outside of work, DiCosimo, who also holds a Certificate of Advanced Study from SUNY Cortland, said she enjoys running, reading and spending time with her family.
She has a husband, one daughter in middle school and a two-year-old Welsh Corgi named Elliott.
