“This is a must attend event for new moms and expecting moms,” said Mary Ellen Pierce, breastfeeding coordinator and nutritionist with OCO’s WIC program. “We have partnered with Oswego Health, Cornell Cooperative Extension, Mother Earth Baby, OCO OPTIONS program, Oswego County Dept. of Health, Oswego County OB/GYN and the Pregnancy Care Center to put together a program that will provide vital information regarding the expectations of motherhood. The goal of our Community Baby Shower is to educate new and expecting moms on how breastfeeding works as well as the physical and emotional benefits that breastfeeding offers both mother and baby.”

In addition to the presentations there will be a panel of nursing mothers that serve as peer counselors through WIC on hand to answer questions and address concerns regarding breastfeeding.

“It will be an excellent opportunity to engage in open conversation with mothers that are willing to candidly share their experiences and dispel any misconceptions regarding breastfeeding,” said Pierce.

The Community Baby Shower is free to attend and open to all new and expecting mothers.

Breakfast and snacks will be provided.

And, as with all baby showers, the event will include free gifts.

As space is limited registration is required.

For more information and to register to attend call Pierce at 315-343-1311.
