Canal Clean Sweeps at Minetto & Great Bear

Canal Clean Sweep at Minetto:
The Canal Clean Sweep began in 2005. Parks and Trails New York has been responsible for executing the event from 2005 to this year 2025.
Minetto has been a proud participant each year. Minetto has worked in rain, heat and snow. Over the years ,the trash has thankfully diminished.
As knees get older, running up and down riprap along the river is avoided but all else receives attention and care.
We thank the people who sponsor this worth while endeavor and all participants.
Canal clean Sweep at Great Bear Springs Recreation Area:
Recognizing Canal Clean Sweep and Earth Day, eight members of Friends of Great Bear participated in a Clean Sweep of the towpath at Great Bear.
A minor amount of litter, being a few plastic bottles and fast food wrappers were found and collected.
In addition, the group worked on cutting back new overgrowth encroaching along the sides of the towpath and at the historic guard lock.
