PARISH – Extensive improvements undertaken over the summer to both the Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Elementary and Junior/Senior High schools have been completed, improving roofing, parking and student safety.

New PVC roofing has been installed on three-quarters of the elementary school, which will result in increased energy costs savings.
The elementary school also had all new sidewalks installed and parking lot has been increased in size.
Perhaps the most notable improvement at the elementary school is the construction of a student drop-off circle at the north end of the parking lot which allows students to enter the building without having to cross the school bus loop.
“It gives parents a good view of the students entering and coming out of the building and adds to their comfort level when dropping off or picking up,” said APW Director of Facilities David Poore.
Poore said the design for the new drop-off circle came from listening to parent and community concerns about the design of the parking lot and described it as a “win-win” for both the district and families.
The district was also able to use recycled materials from the parking lot construction to build roadways to varsity athletics fields, where four new softball dugouts were constructed.
“The projects were very successful, we received quality work and came in way under budget,” Poore said.
