The Central Square Redhawk Marching Band recently took first place in two different competitions.

Boasting a score of 91.1 at the USBANDS competition in Massachusetts, they achieved the highest score of all ten bands that were competing at the show.
They also earned three caption awards for Best Music, Best Visual and Best Overall Effect.
The next day, they fought through the remnants of Hurricane Matthew and secured yet another first place victory at the New York State Field Band Conference competition at Arlington High School with an 85.7 total score.
Redhawk Regiment Marching Band Director Ronald Haldeman applauded the team’s dedication and noted that, “the hours that are spent in rehearsal and on the field of competition help to bring the group together, as well as take some steps toward excellence musically and visually. The students are working very hard and the staff are very proud of them.”
Hoping to keep this momentum going, their next challenge will be The New York State Field Band Conference’s 43rd championship show on October 30 at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse.
This annual championship competition will bring together more than 50 of the top high school marching bands in the northeastern United States.
