MEXICO – Students enrolled in the Culinary Arts program at the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation recently put their skills to the test by preparing hundreds of lunches for an event sponsored by Sen. Patty Ritchie.

In what has now become an annual task for CiTi’s Culinary Arts program, the students needed to utilize hands-on experience and display great teamwork in order to accomplish the feat of assembling hundreds of lunches in a short amount of time.
“This gives them great experience to start off the year,” said instructor Samuel Passer. “This sort of experience is the perfect building block for the students to have moving forward.”
Passer also said he was pleased to see the leadership role several second-year students took during the preparation process, something he noted as important in the kitchen.
“It’s nice to have that hierarchy in the kitchen,” said Passer. “If the first-year students have questions, they can go to the second-year students. And if they have questions, they can come to me. And if I have a question, I can go to Chef (Sue) Jerrett.”
