OSWEGO – Cosmetology students at the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation recently participated in a St. Baldrick’s Day event in Oswego and helped shave heads to promote a cure for childhood cancer.

According to cosmetology teacher Ines Rovito, the event served as an opportunity for the program to give back to the community and allowed students the chance to interact with local salon owners and professional stylists.
“It was a very emotional day. There were a lot of tears, but also a lot of smiles,” said Rovito. “If the hair was long enough, it was first put into a ponytail before shaving so it could be sent to either Wigs for Kids or Pantene.”
Prior to the event, CiTi’s cosmetology program also held a cut-a-thon, where all proceeds were donated to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
