Inspired by the book Growing a Kitchen Garden by Natalie Lunis, the third grade students in Denise Warchol’s class at Altmar Elementary School are nurturing their very own garden project in their classroom.

The project started roughly three months ago with an avocado seed and has grown to include a sweet potato, a white potato, and an onion.
The students have been observing the garden’s changes over the past several months and have become familiar with the different parts of a plant and the conditions needed to grow certain vegetables.
