Fairgrieve Elementary School recently announced its top Accelerated Readers for the 2012-13 school year and rewarded Accelerated Reader participants earning a minimum of 100 points a special pizza party that included lunch with Principal Jean Ciesla.

The top point earners included: Alice Allen (698.3 points) a school record; Keara Patterson (368.6 points); and Olivia Hawthorne (325.8 points).
The Accelerated Reading program, known as AR to students, is a national program designed to inspire children to read.
Students sign AR books out of the school library, read the books, take computerized reading comprehension tests about the books at their own pace and earn points based on the number of questions answered correctly.
Fairgrieve Elementary School AR is coordinated by school librarian Barb Senecal.
