First grade students at Fairgrieve Elementary School were lauded for their exceptional reading efforts during a recent Morning Express program.

The top five Accelerated Reader finishers from first grade were announced before the school-wide assembly, drawing thunderous cheers from their fellow classmates.
The students finishing in the top five were Benjamin Renfrew, Cayley Cunningham, Ayden Cusic, Annalee Mitchell and Jada Barnwell.
The top five finishers received a gift bag with assorted prizes, as well as a teddy bear of their choice.
During the assembly, it was also announced that the school met a year-long challenge set by Principal Jean Ciesla.
Ciesla challenged the school to earn 10,000 Accelerated Reader points by the end of May, which the students accomplished.
For their hard work and dedication to reading throughout the year, Ciesla has agreed to go into a dunking booth during the school’s Accelerated Reader Celebration on June 17.
