In working through their science curriculum, the fourth graders recently visited Camp Hollis in Oswego Town where they learned about layers of rocks while on the shore of Lake Ontario, nature shapes during a walk through the woods, bird migration though a reader’s theater, layers of pond water and much more.

The hands-on learning experience was step one to their scientific process.

Upon returning to class they created a picture with their nature shapes and logged information into their journals.

The fourth grade teachers said the real-world applications to their lessons will help students better understand the academic unit.
