Fairley Elementary Raises More Than $600 For Paige’s Butterfly Run

Dressed in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle pajama bottoms, bathrobes and Disney princess nightgowns, among other night ware, students and staff members at Fairley Elementary School raised more than $600 to assist local families whose children have cancer.

The fourth annual Paige’s Pajamarama at the elementary school allowed the extended Fairley family to dress up in pajamas for the day, in exchange for a donation to the cause.

Event proceeds will benefit Paige’s Butterfly Run, Inc. which awards funds toward pediatric cancer research, family and survivor assistance funds, a memorial endowment fund and a family fun fund.

Fairley youngsters and staff members were thrilled their donations will help so many children seeking treatment at the Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital in Syracuse.

The fund is in memory of Paige Yeomans Arnold, who died from her cancer battle at the age of eight.

Her father, Chris Arnold, visited Fairley Elementary during an assembly on the school’s Paige’s Pajamarama day to explain to them just how impactful their gesture will be.

Physical education teacher Lynn Halliwell said a team from Fairley Elementary will also participate in the upcoming Paige’s Butterfly Run in Syracuse.
