Innovative ideas were on display recently during Fairley Elementary School’s Inventive Minds competition.

Nine students in third and fourth grades showed off their own unique inventions, ranging from soap dispensers to desktop organizers.
Since January, the young inventors have been developing their projects, building prototypes and documenting their research as part of the competition.

“This is a huge responsibility for these students,” said reading teacher and club co-adviser Kate Babbitt. “They have to have the time and persistence to keep up with this and their school work. I’m proud of their commitment and dedication.”
Participants include Addison Holden, Benjamin Fowler, Kyle Stock Simmons, Bailey Runge, Ethan Joyce, Savannah Buske, Jeremy Draper, Tylyn Kaylor and Kendra Wirth.
They will advance to the regional Inventive Minds competition, where they will showcase their inventions and compete for medals against students from Clyde-Savannah and Red Creek elementary schools.
