OSWEGO – Organizations represented on the Oswego County Falls Prevention Coalition will be present at Senator Ritchie’s Senior Health and Wellness Fair on Oct. 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Oswego County Highway Department, 31 Schaad Drive, Oswego.
[1]This free event for seniors provides a no-cost lunch, health screenings, flu shots (with your Medicare or insurance ID), live entertainment, and information stations.

The following agencies represented on the Oswego County Falls Prevention Coalition will be tabling the event and offering Falls Prevention night lights:

– Kindred at Home- Providing information on falls prevention programs, free pedometers, and granola bars.
– Oswego County Health Department- Providing information on evidence based programs/classes offered for seniors including: Healthy Living, Prevent Type II Diabetes, 6 Steps to Better Balance, Stepping- ON, and Tai Chi for Arthritis. Also providing information about mosquitos/ticks and disease. Interactive Fall Hazard Doll House on display.
– Oswego County Office for the Aging- Providing information and brochures about services offered through Office of the Aging and NY Connects.
– Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP) – Providing information and demonstrations on falls prevention programs offered through RSVP, applications for RSVP, Mature Living newspaper, and informational brochures for RSVP Oswego County.
– St. Luke Health Services- Providing information about St. Luke Health Services, Bishop Commons, St. Francis Commons, and The Cornerstone Club. Stop and talk with a falls prevention class instructor, and learn about the benefits of participating in a class locally.
– Oswego County Opportunities – Providing information about services offered such as Meals on Wheels and Senior Dining & Activity Centers. Also providing animal crackers.
