Fantasy Garden Party at Riverside Artisans, September 23

OSWEGO – In a real change of pace, Suzanne Stout will conduct a Fantasy Garden Art Party on September 23 from 10 a.m. to noon for participants to make their own indoor container gardens.

She makes mini-gardens at the Riverside Artisans shop, and now our patrons can learn to make their own.

Earth, rock, wood, flora, fauna and some whimsy comprise her world of gardens.

Observing and enjoying nature has developed into a variety of creative endeavors including dried and fresh flower arrangements, rustic weddings, dried and live garden scenes, all adorned with mini surprises and fun.

Come to the class and enjoy creating your own world. She will cover the basics of designing mini-gardens, how to select and organize plants and ornaments, and how to assemble them in a glass container.

Stout’s and her husband, Jim’s, gardens and land supply much of her materials as she collects moss, rocks, plants and ideas.

His scraps from a barn full of beautiful woods and driftwood are used in all her gardens.

The cost of the party is $35 if you bring your own container or $45 if you would like to use one of Stout’s.

All plants, soil, stones and other materials will be provided.

There is a $10 registration fee, with the balance of due the evening of the class. If you have a special container, favorite fairies, gnomes or other tiny characters, bring them with you.

Extra containers are available for $10; plants, soil, stones and whimsy characters included in price.

Children 10 and over welcome.

The class will take place in the Canal Commons Community Room at 193 W. First St.
