OSWEGO – On June 14, Frederick Leighton Elementary held its first field days for pre-k through sixth grade students.
The weather was perfect.

The scheduled activities included: bubbles and chalk; reptiles; firefighters and a K-9 unit; a DJ to provide musical entertainment; several bounce house obstacle courses; kickball; tug-of-war and sack races; indoor carnival games; and hamburgers on the grill made by principal Dr. Larry Schmiegel, retiring custodian Mr. Rossi and the lovely food services people.
As the field day was winding down, a photo of the Leighton students, faculty and staff spelling out the letters FLS was taken with the kind help of the firefighters.
The day ended with the students eating popsicles and watermelon.
Thank you to the firefighters, parents and everyone else who helped make this day a memory to last a lifetime.
