OSWEGO COUNTY – The Oswego County Health Department and the Oswego YMCA continue to focus on public health this month with Healthy Kids Day! The free event highlights youth health, wellness and family engagement. It runs from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 18 at the Oswego YMCA, 265 W. First St., Oswego.

“We’re excited to continue our National Public Health Week celebration by partnering with the Oswego YMCA for Healthy Kids Day,” said Oswego County Public Health Director Vera Dunsmoor. “This event is a great opportunity for families to connect with community resources while enjoying a fun day of educational activities. Our department will offer a range of engaging, hands-on experiences designed to promote healthy habits both kids and parents can embrace.”

Multiple Oswego County Health Department divisions will be at the event with information and fun activities. Attendees can visit the sensory table with staff from the Children with Special Needs Division, play a duck game with Healthy Families staff members; ride the Smoothie Bike with the public health educators; or visit the teddy bear clinic run by nurses in the Preventive Division. Don’t forget to stop by the Environmental Division to learn more about how to protect yourself and your family from ticks, mosquitoes, rabies and lead.

Interactive play and STEM activities will also be available from various community organizations including Rice Creek Field Station, SUNY Oswego Del Sarte Dance Club, Novelis, Integrated Community Planning of Oswego County, Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County, Oswego County Opportunities (OCO) Headstart, the City of Oswego Fire Department, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, Little Luke’s, Love & Light Yoga, The Balloon Lady, C’s Farms, Master Pryor’s Taekwondo, Green Planet Grocery, and Integrative Counseling Services.
