OSWEGO — Etan Thomas, who starred for Syracuse University’s basketball team and played in the NBA, will discuss “We Matter: Athletes and Activism” at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 22, in SUNY Oswego’s Marano Campus Center auditorium, Room 132.
The talk, which is free and open to the public, is part of the college’s I Am Oz Diversity Speaker Series.
Thomas has dedicated his life to civic engagement after his nine years in the NBA.
His 2018 book, also titled “We Matter: Athletes and Activism,” features a collection of interviews and commentary with athletes, activists and media personalities who have dedicated their lives to social change.
Doors open at 6 p.m. for his Oswego appearance.
An audience question-and-answer session, and then a book signing, will follow his talk.
