Friends Of Recovery Oswego County Receives Grant From Central New York Community Foundation

Oswego, New York – Friends of Recovery Oswego County was recently awarded $4,500 to support staffing costs at the Recovery Community Outreach Center (RCOC) in Oswego, New York. This grant was made possible by the Central New York Community Foundation. The RCOC supports residents of Oswego County who have been impacted by substance use disorder. This funding will support Friends of Recovery Oswego County’s mission to work collaboratively to create and promote strategies and solutions for long term recovery for those impacted by substance use disorder in Oswego County and ensure availability and accessibility for all.
Friends of Oswego County is pleased to receive this grant award and put it towards staff who will meet people where they are in a stigma free and nonjudgemental environment that embraces harm reduction. The RCOC provides service to young adults, adults, and families by linking them with resources and support to promote recovery and wellness while being treated with the dignity and respect they deserve. These services are focused on reducing barriers that prevent individuals affected by substance use disorder from receiving support and services that can sustain long term recovery. “The CNY Community Foundation’s support of FOR-Oswego County will help us expand opportunities to assist & support the recovery community. We are appreciative of the support and resources from the foundation, and they will go a long way to help us further our work to support and connect individuals to needed services”, Teresa Woolson FOR-Oswego founder & board member states.

The grant was provided through the Community Foundation’s Community Grant program, which funds innovative projects in Onondaga and Madison counties that focus on the areas of arts and culture, civic affairs, education, health, human services and the environment.
