MAYORAL PROCLAMATION
2012 SALVATION ARMY CHRISTMAS KETTLE FUND DRIVE SEASON
NOVEMBER 16th TO DECEMBER 24th
WHEREAS, The Salvation Army has been in existence for over 100 years; and
WHEREAS, the mission of the Salvation Army is to meet human needs without discrimination; and
WHEREAS, the Christmas Kettle Drive is a yearly funding effort to help local families and individuals in time of need by raising money to buy food baskets for families and toys for children; and
WHEREAS, over 2,395 families were helped during the 2011 Christmas Season, 1,575 of which had children; and
WHEREAS, last year’s Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Drive exceeded it’s goal of $93,000 and the goal for this year is to reach $95,000 once more; and
WHEREAS, all funds raised will be reinvested into the Oswego County Community to provide food and clothing for those in need, operate the food pantry and soup kitchen, and distribute monthly food boxes, provide breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday and for operating expenses; and
WHEREAS, The Christmas Kettle Drive will kicked off on November 16, 2012 and run through Christmas Eve.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Ronald L. Woodward, Sr., Mayor of the City of Fulton, do hereby proclaim November 16, 2012 through December 24, 2012 as Salvation Army Kettle Fund Drive Season, and encourage all Fulton citizens to support the very dedicated people of the Salvation Army in this very worthy cause.
