Fulton Junior High School Open House

The Fulton Junior High School held two Open Houses recently for seventh and eighth grade students and their families.

The evenings included a welcome presentation in the cafeteria where Fulton Junior High School Principal Donna Parkhurst spoke briefly about the Rural After School Program (RASP) slated to begin in November, the Assets Coming Together (ACT) for Youth Program, MyGradeBook grading and attendance system, and gave parents an update on the success of the school’s recent schedule change including the ability to introduce a new lunch program called ‘Lunch and Learn.’

This program gives Junior High students the option of spending their lunch time with a teacher instead of in the cafeteria. In addition, Parkhurst introduced a few key administrators at the school including the school’s Administrative Intern Nate Wienk and incoming Vice Principal Christopher Grethel along with the three teaching teams.

English, Math, Science, and Social Studies teachers from each team were given an opportunity to address the crowd of parents; providing them with an outline of the upcoming school year, academic goals and student expectations. Following this welcome presentation, students and their parents inundated the hallways visiting classrooms and labs and speaking with the teachers one-on-one. Before calling it a night, all staff, students, and visitors reconvened in the cafeteria for refreshments and community time.
