Cayla Weaver, G. Ray Bodley sophomore, wanted to do something to give back to America’s troops, and with the help of the school’s HOPE Club (Helping Other People Everywhere), one girl’s heart became a collaborative vision.

“I searched online and found the “Holiday Mail for Heroes” program, I thought it was something the whole school could be a part of,” said Weaver.
Students spent their own time after school making the cards in Cathy Cronk’s classroom, the HOPE Club adviser.
With the first snowflakes of the season outside the window and music playing in the background, holiday spirit flowed throughout the room.
The program is sponsored by the American Red Cross.
According to www.redcross.org, “the Holiday Mail for Heroes program empowers people to “Give Something That Means Something” by sending a card of thanks and support to the members of the Armed Forces, veterans and their families.”
