Guitar Virtuoso Loren Barrigar To Perform At OCO ‘Giving Thanks’

OSWEGO, NY – Oswego County Opportunities Executive Director Diane Cooper-Currier has announced that singer / songwriter Loren Barrigar will provide the entertainment for the agency’s “Giving Thanks” fundraiser.

One of the world’s most accomplished acoustic guitar players, Loren Barrigar began playing guitar at 4 years old.

By the time he was 6 he performed before thousands of country music fans at the famed Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.

He has gone on to become a highly sought after session musician and songwriter.

Barrigar’s songwriting skills have launched his melodies on the popular television shows “ER” and “The Young and the Restless” and on a Christmas CD with the legendary BB King and Patti Labelle.

He has performed with some of the finest musicians in the world including guitar sensation Tommy Emmanuel.

Fresh off a tour of New Zealand, Barrigar is happy to return to his home base of Central New York and is looking forward to performing at OCO’s “Giving Thanks” fundraiser.

“I’m happy to be a part of ‘Giving Thanks’ and helping such vital organization as OCO. I know they offer a wide range of services that help many people. If I can help them raise funds for those in need, then that’s a good thing,” said Barrigar.

Barrigar’s diverse repertoire draws on many musical influences- including Americana, Jazz, Classical, Bluegrass and Gypsy Jazz.

His performance at “Giving Thanks” will feature popular songs from the past 7 decades as well as a number of originals from his own catalog.

“We are delighted to have such an exciting performer as Loren. Attendees are in for a real treat. This is guitar playing like you’ve never heard before. We’re grateful to Atom and Felicia Avery for making this possible by sponsoring Loren’s performance,” said Cooper-Currier.

Proceeds from “Giving Thanks” will be used in support of OCO’s “Sleep Tight” initiative to purchase safe, hygienic bedding for children in need.

“Every child deserves a good night’s sleep,” Cooper-Currier said. “With pests like bed bugs now spreading across Central New York we need to be proactive in and begin eliminating bed bugs in Oswego County; our “Sleep Tight’ initiative is focused on accomplishing that goal.”

Tickets to OCO’s “Giving Thanks” celebration are $30 per person and include food, refreshments, and beer & wine tastings.

OCO’s “Giving Thanks” fundraiser will be held November 1, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center in Oswego.
