H. Lee White Maritime Museum Honors 75th Anniversary of D-Day

OSWEGO, NY- This year commemorates the 75th anniversary of D-Day, which began June 6, 1944.

The H. Lee White Maritime Museum will honor this event by holding week long specially guided tours of the National Historic Landmark Wor;d War II Tugboat, LT-5 from June 3-7, 1-5 p.m. and June 8 and 9 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The museum will also be open free for visitors during this week of remembrance.

The museum is located on the West First Pier in Oswego. Just follow the signs to the museum.

In addition, on June 6, D-Day a brief ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. and include dignitaries and representatives from area veterans groups.

This is one of the last remaining US Army Transport vessels of its type left from World War II and can be toured at the museum daily.

The vessel is maintained by the museum and a dedicated group of volunteers with the support of the Port of Oswego Authority.
