Hannibal Seniors Present ‘Attack Of The Zombies’

Although Halloween is just a distant memory, that didn’t stop a group of zombies from invading Hannibal High School recently for the annual senior play.

“Attack of the Zombies” kept audience members entertained and on the edge of their seats during the two-night run.

Playing on the zombie theme made popular through network television hits such as “The Walking Dead,” nearly 30 senior classmen took the stage for the performances.

“We only had five people come to the initial auditions,” said director Pete Mahan. “I think a lot of it was the fear of the unknown, because most of these kids are not drama students. But, the word got around and once they read the script, they wanted to be a part of the play.”

With a rookie group of performers, Mahan knew the show would be a “fun challenge.”

According to the director, the students were up for the challenge and spent six weeks rehearsing.

“It is a tough plotline because it’s dark humor, but the students really bought into it and spent a lot of time rehearsing,” Mahan said. “They saw it through to the end, and I’m pleased with how everything turned out.”
