HANNIBAL – Student musicians in the Hannibal Central School District wrapped up Music in Our Schools Month with district-wide concerts featuring both band and chorus members.

On March 21, band students in fifth through 12th grades took the stage at the Lockwood Auditorium to showcase their talents. Under the direction of Jeffrey Sawyer, the beginning band started the evening with “Folk Song Feature,” before the sixth-grade band’s performance of “Mission Control” and “Call to Glory.”
The concert continued with three songs by the seventh and eighth grade band under the direction of Frances Flancbaum, and concluded with a movie-inspired medley of songs by Colleen Dailey’s high school band students.
Following band’s lead, the district-wide chorus concert provided a night of musical entertainment March 28.

Sawyer conducted two songs performed by the fifth and sixth grade band, while conductor Denise Ellis took the podium for the junior and senior high choruses.
To cap off the concert, the junior and senior high choruses combined for a traditional South African song that brought the audience to its feet.
