HANNIBAL – The Fairley Elementary School gymnasium was buzzing with excitement and patriotism Nov. 10, as students honored armed service personnel during a Veterans’ Day assembly.

“This is our chance to show our respect and appreciation for the service members and the things they have done for us,” said FES Principal Jody Musa.
As part of the assembly, students sang patriotic songs and saluted the American flag that was presented by members of the Hannibal American Legion.
They also learned about the history behind Veterans’ Day and welcomed family and friends who have served or continue to serve our country.
High school band members Steven Baker and Zachery Dunbar played “Taps” to help conclude the ceremony as the American Legion members retired the colors.
