OSWEGO, NY – Oswego Harborfest announces auditions for the 2018 Children’s Musical. Auditions will be held on April 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. and April 28 from 10 a.m. to noon at the McCrobie Building on Lake Street in Oswego.
Students in kindergarten through 12 grade are invited and may audition on either day.
For students who are out of town or not available during those times, separate audition times can be scheduled.
Students will be asked to sing “America” (My Country Tis of Thee) and “Happy Birthday.”
They will also read a short passage from the production.
The musical has 22 speaking roles with additional parts for chorus and dancers.
There will be basic musical theater choreography for any dance ability level.
This year’s production is “101 Dalmations,” based on the screenplay by Bill Peet with music and lyrics by Mel Leven, Randy Rogel, Richard Gibbs, Brian Smith, Martin Lee Fuller and Dan Root.
The book is adapted with additional lyrics by Marcy Heisler.
The music was adapted and arranged by Bryan Louiselle.
The play is based on the novel “The Hundred and One Dalmatians” by Dodie Smith.
This year’s Children’s Musical is a fur-raising adventure featuring Cruella De Vil, Disney’s most outrageous villain, and 101 of the most adorable heroes to set their paws onstage.
With a high-spirited score and lovable characters, this stage adaptation is certain to charm and delight all audiences.
The musical will be directed by Lyndsie Lee Jones.
