FULTON, NY – Build and Grow was the theme for the evening as the Oswego County Opportunities Head Start program hosted its annual My Guy and Me Night.

Held at Discovery Day Care on Phoenix, My Guy and Me Night provided children in the Head Start and Discovery Day Care programs an opportunity to bring their dad, grandpa, uncle, or significant male with them for an evening of family fun.
“Our My Guy and Me Night is a great way to involve males in our program. As they are an important part of their child’s education we encourage them to be active participants. Lowe’s Home Improvement centers donated a number of build and grow activity kits for the event. The children enjoyed working together with their guy as they built firetrucks, Kung Fu Panda figures, Shrek carriages and other children themed projects,” said Liz Liberti, family advocate with the Head Start program.
Head Start, a pre-kindergarten program for three and four year old children, focuses on school readiness.

In addition to a research-based curriculum, Head Start incorporates elements of family engagement, health, and nutrition.
Discovery Day Care, which houses the Phoenix Head Start classrooms, is a licensed center offering children a quality program focused on language, literacy, creativity, music, mathematics, and social development.
Head Start serves all nine school districts with locations in Cleveland, Fulton, Oswego, Phoenix and Williamstown.
