Honesty is the best policy and at Volney Elementary School this adage means more than telling the truth.
Honesty, the character trait of the month, means learning to be truthful with yourself; admitting that you can, do and/or will make mistakes; and growing from those mistakes.
In recognition of this character virtue, one role model student from each class was selected to receive the Honesty Role Model and Principal’s Award.
Honesty is just one of the character virtues that students at Volney Elementary School learn about throughout a school year; others include respect, gratitude, empathy, and tolerance.
Character education and recognizing students for acting appropriately is part of the Fulton City School District’s PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) initiative and helps to promote a positive school and learning environment.
