Library Learning Center Offers Courses On Overdrive, Downloading e-Books and Online Content

OSWEGO – In August, a course that outlines how to use Overdrive online and through their app will be available on August 9 from 2-4 p.m.

There will also be a separate class on downloading content onto Kindle e-reader devices on August 24 from 2-4 p.m.

The Saturday class being offered this month is Navigating Local and Online Genealogy Resources, which will be on August 19 from 2-4 p.m.

An evening class will be available on August 22; this month it is Creating Webpages using Wikipedia and will be held from 5-7 p.m.

Browsing and Navigating Wikipedia will also be offered earlier in the day from 2-4 p.m. if people want to take two classes pertaining to how the website works.

Here is a complete list of all workshops offered in August:

? Introduction to Computers (#4 & #5) – August 7 and 14, 10 a.m. – noon.
? Internet Basics (#1 & #2) – August 21 and 28, 10 a.m. – noon.
? Using eBay (#1 & #2) – August 7 and 14, 2-4 p.m.
? Courses centered on Apple products: Selecting an Apple Laptop (August 21, 2-4 p.m.), Using Apple iPads (August 10, 2-4 p.m.), and Using Apple iPhones (August 17, 2-4 p.m.)
? Courses centered on Amazon products/navigating: Self-Publishing with Amazon (August 2, 2-4 p.m.), Downloading eBooks for the Kindle (August 24, 2-4 p.m.) and Advanced Kindle Fire (August 28, 2-4 p.m.).
? Job-Hunting Courses: Resume Writing (August 16, 2-4 p.m.) and Cover Letter Writing (August 23, 2-4 p.m.).
? Courses on online navigation/resources: Navigating Facebook (August 1, 2-4 p.m.), Using Social Media Safely (August 8, 2-4 p.m.), Using Overdrive ( August 9, 2-4 p.m.), Navigating Local and Online Genealogy Resources (August 19, 2-4 p.m.), Browsing Wikipedia (August 22, 2-4 p.m.), Creating webpages with Wikipedia (August 22, 5-7 p.m.), Couponing with a Computer (August 29, 2-4 p.m.), and Using Search Engines Effectively (August 30, 2-4 p.m.).
? Other Classes: Using Touchscreen Devices (August 3, 2-4 p.m.) and Components of a Computer (August 31, 2-4 p.m.).

Tech Help Open Labs will be held on Thursday and Fridays and are available from 10 a.m. until noon on each of the following dates: August 1, 3, 8, 10, 11, 15, 17, 18, 24 and 31.

The Library Learning Center is located on the lower level of the Oswego Public Library and is open Monday-Friday.

All programs are free and open to the public.
