Oswego – The Riverside Artisans cooperative welcomes ceramic artist Linda Malik as a new member in their gallery and shop in downtown Oswego. Linda’s distinctive work features an innovative and experimental style that uses the clay’s versatility in captivating designs.
According to Linda, “Clay can be both incredibly strong and quite brittle and I enjoy playing with this duality as a tension in my work. Pushing physical boundaries energizes me to experiment while being unattached to the result.” She uses these characteristics to create a wide variety of designs and styles that are all uniquely her own.
Linda made her way to Central New York from her hometown in Long Island by way of Manhattan, Boston and New Hampshire. She holds degrees in both fine arts and graphic design. She currently lives in Syracuse with her cat, Chloe.
Linda’s work is all hand-built; she does not use a potter’s wheel. This allows an extraordinary level of creativity not often seen in ceramic work. Linda says, “Each piece of my work is one-of-a-kind. I prefer to allow ad hoc inspiration lead me into experimentation.”
The varying colors, shapes and texture of Linda’s creations make a stunning presentation. A wide selection of her work is on display in the Riverside Artisans gallery.
