FULTON, NY – Little Lukes announces a $500 scholarship for a second-year Occupational Therapy Assistant student at Cayuga Community College. Applications to the CCC OTA program are due March 1.

Cayuga Community College is launching a new degree program beginning fall 2017 semester.
The Occupational Therapy Assistant degree will prepare students for a well-paying, vibrant career path in a high-demand healthcare field.
OTA courses will be offered on the Fulton campus, with other required general education courses available on the Fulton campus, the Auburn campus or online.
According to Joan Meyers MSEd OTR/L, director of Occupational Therapy Assistant Program at Cayuga Community College, “Occupational Therapy Assistants work with individuals of all ages to help them gain the skills needed to perform everyday life activities. An OTA might: help children with developmental delays improve their fine motor and socialization skills for success in school; assist residents of a nursing facility to regain daily living skills after hip replacement or stroke; teach hospital patients to use adaptive equipment to promote safety and independence upon discharge; modify work environments and establish work skill programs for individuals who have experienced injuries; and teach stress management strategies for clients coping with mental health issues.”
The application process for the OTA program is competitive and requires completion of an entrance exam and specific prerequisite courses.
Applications for the OTA program are being accepted through March 1 for Fall 2017 admission.
