Magician Captivates Students with Ecology Lesson

Students of Hastings-Mallory Elementary School learned the importance of protecting the earth’s environment during a presentation by “Dumpster Doug,” a magician and illusionist who advocates for recycling, resource conservation and more.

Dumpster Doug captivated the audience with magic tricks and captivating illusions, all while helping the students discover the important role they play in protecting natural resources.

“Conservation is stretching out what you already have,” said Doug. He encouraged the students to pay attention to the amount of water they consume when brushing their teeth or taking a shower.

Dumpster Doug also gave real-life examples of what the students can do to help keep the earth clean, such as recycling.

He told the students that they could turn even a cardboard box into a recycling box for plastic, metal, glass, paper and more.

The fast-paced, humorous ecology lesson was packed with high-energy fun and kept the student audience engaged and excited to help in environmental conservation.
