MEXICO – The third annual March Meatball Madness Spaghetti Dinner will be held at Mexico VFW on March 24.
Who really does have the most delicious meatballs in Oswego County?
Will Bosco’s Meats win for the second year in a row?
The United Baptist Church of Scriba will host the third annual March Meatball Madness Spaghetti Dinner at the Mexico VFW, located on Route 3, on March 24 to support our local “Blessings in a Backpack” program in Mexico.
Serving will start at 4 p.m. and continue until 6:30 p.m.
Guest chef Brian Taylor will be managing the kitchen during this event.
At 4:30 p.m. our four judges (Mexico Fire Chief Justin Harrington; Mexico Elementary Principal Bob Briggs; New Haven Elementary Principal Jennifer Granholm and the Mayor of Mexico Terry Grimshaw) will begin taste testing meatballs from these seven locations who have donated them to the cause: Daddy Ed’s, The Eis House, Bosco’s Meats, Canale’s, Vona’s, Paul’s Big M and Denise’s Deli.
The judges will determine who is rewarded with the “Best Meatballs in Oswego County” plaque that was donated by Lupien’s Gifts and Engraving.
Dinners will include: spaghetti and meatballs, tossed salad, dinner rolls (donated by Stefano’s Pizzeria and Restaurant) and a homemade dessert.
Take-outs will be available.
For your listening pleasure, the “Oswego Barbershop Chorus” will be providing musical entertainment during the event.
Prices are as follows: veterans: $5, adults: $10, children (6-12) $5 and children 5 and younger eat free.
100% of the proceeds from this event will go toward sending food home every week of the school year with elementary school age children who are in the “free or reduced meal program” at the New Haven and Mexico elementary schools.
It costs $80 to support one child for an entire school year.
If you aren’t able to attend, but would still like to donate to the cause, you can send a check made payable to the United Baptist Church of Scriba located at 5111 State Route 104E, Oswego, NY 13126.
Please note on the check “Blessings in a Backpack.”
