Maroun Students Create Eco-Friendly Projects

PHOENIX – Second graders in the Phoenix Central School District recently put their recycling knowledge to the test with several Earth-friendly projects to culminate their studies.

As part of an entomology unit, students in Tyra Cumber’s class researched various insects, wrote a report detailing their findings, identified a video to support their research, and created a model – made of recycled material — of their insect.

They presented the projects to their classmates and talked about what they learned while conducting research.

In addition to the insects made of recycled material, second graders also made notebooks out of cardboard boxes, yarn and loose leaf paper during an Earth Day celebration.

They learned the history behind Earth Day and talked about ways to reduce their carbon footprint.
