The Mexico Academy and Central School District will host the For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology Lego League competition on November 22 at the Mexico Middle School complex.

The event, which brings teams of fourth graders from across the Central New York Region, is the first qualifier level in the national competition with winners from this qualifying event advancing to the state level.
In FLL, teams of up to 10 students strategize, design, build, program, and test an autonomous robot, using Lego Mindstorms technology that will perform a series of tasks on an obstacle course based on the competition’s theme.
Stations will be set up and teams will be timed and scored as they complete the missions required.
Far more than robots, the competition is aimed to help young people discover the fun in science and technology and using problem solving to develop real-world applications of science and math concepts.
FIRST is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping young people discover and develop a passion for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
