Moore Student Government Helps Draw Lifesavers With Blood Drive

Paul V. Moore High School Student Government teamed up once again with the American Red Cross to help save hundreds of lives.
Students hosted a blood drive that received the support of more than 70 teachers and students.
Since each pint of donated blood can save as many as three people’s lives, more than 200 people will benefit from the results of the event.
The annual fall blood drive was conducted in conjunction with the American Red Cross as part of the Student Government’s ongoing efforts to promote positive community impacts.
Student Government advisor Deborah O’Mara said breakfast was offered to donors beforehand, utilizing food donations from local businesses, to help increase the number of participants and ensure the overall success of blood draws.
Many students, she added, were first-time donors and said that they would donate again.
According to the American Red Cross, statistics indicate that a good portion of these students and staff will become life-long donors, especially if they start at a younger age.
The Student Government hosts two blood drives each year, and will hold its spring event on March 3.
