MEXICO – The New Vision Allied Health program at the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation has expanded to more than 45 rotation sites this year for student learning.

For seniors in high school, students in the program have the opportunity to visit each rotation site throughout the year and gain exposure to a wide variety of healthcare settings while shadowing the job.
Registered nurse Kathy Metott from Oswego Hospital, one of the many rotation sites, said, “New Vision Allied Health is an amazing program that allows students to get a glimpse of each area of healthcare. The program continues to grow and improve. Each year, the students seem more interested and more eager to find their healthcare niche.”
When the students are not out on rotation, they are participating in college-level courses on the SUNY Oswego campus.
“Allied Health has sparked an excitement for my future,” said Zoie Bowering from G. Ray Bodley High School. “The 20 college credits that I will earn through this program will put me on a fast-track to achieving my goals.”

“In one month of New Vision Allied Health, I’ve learned not only how to be a better student, but to be a better person. My academic ability, time management and people skills have improved drastically,” said Kyle Kon from Oswego High School.
All New Vision programs through CiTi require an application, recommendations, a writing sample and an interview. High school juniors interested in next year’s class may talk with their guidance counselor for more information.
“Infinite gratitude is owed to the citizens of Oswego County who allow students to observe them through triage, exams, procedures, labor and delivery, oral surgeries, physical therapy sessions, and the like,” said New Vision Allied Health Instructor Emily Kirch, MST. “These are the real heroes of our community that make New Vision Allied Health possible.”
