OSWEGO, N.Y. – Novelis presented the Oswego YMCA with a check for $50,000 to help fund upgrades for the facility’s swimming pool roof and dehumidification system – both necessary renovations to prolong the life and viability of the pool for generations to come.

The check was presented at the Oswego YMCA by Luc Boivin, plant manager of Novelis Oswego in recognition of the company’s commitment to safety and the ongoing support of the community through its corporate social responsibility efforts.
“Safety is a core Novelis value and our commitment to safety is unwavering,” said Boivin. ”Being able to support these critical safety upgrades for the Oswego YMCA pool is fully aligned with one of our core areas of focus for our community engagement efforts.”
The YMCA’s pool is in need of repair and renovations in order to continue providing its scheduled programming. The pool is currently used for swimming lessons, exercise classes, and after school programs.
In addition to the pool roof repair and installation of the dehumidification system, the YMCA is hoping to raise additional funding to construct a wellness center, locker rooms, an elevator and a connecter from the Armory to the pool with a new handicap accessible entrance.
“Today, more than ever, the community needs the Oswego YMCA to support youth development, healthy living and social responsibility,” said Oswego YMCA Board Chair, Bill Finck. “The Oswego YMCA’s Board of Directors has worked very diligently over the past few years to plan and prepare for the pool renovations. With the help of Novelis, other organizations and individuals in the community we will succeed in making the facility a safer and more accessible community resource.”
