Novelis Keeps Harborfest Rolling as Park Sponsor, Contributing Nearly 1,000 Volunteer Hours

OSWEGO — Novelis, Inc., a global leader in sustainable aluminum solutions, returned as a sponsor for Oswego’s Harborfest as the official Park Sponsor of Breitbeck Park. This year, Novelis contributed nearly 1,000 hours of volunteer support, reinforcing its deep commitment to the Oswego community and the festival’s enduring legacy.

 

Breitbeck Park serves as the heart of Harborfest, hosting more than a dozen concerts, family-friendly activities, and the festival’s signature fireworks show over Lake Ontario. Novelis’ sponsorship ensures that the park remains a vibrant hub of free entertainment, education, and community engagement throughout the four-day celebration.

 

In addition to financial support, Novelis employees worked for days to set up the fireworks for the Gucci Family’s famous fireworks display on Saturday. Team members from Novelis staffed the popular?Novelis Activity Tent for kids, offering interactive experiences that promote recycling and sustainability. The company’s mascot,?Can Man, also joined the?Children’s Parade, bringing smiles and environmental awareness to young festival-goers.

 

This year, Novelis partnered with another major festival partner, Constellation Energy on a new project. Novelis offered free aluminum drinking cups that could be filled with water provided free of charge from taps at Constellation’s tent.

 

Harborfest Executive Director Dan Harrington, who has worked for Novelis for 51 years, said, “I am more amazed than ever by Novelis’ commitment to the festival and the community. The help Novelis provides is too long to list and their volunteers always look forward to doing the hard work necessary to make Harborfest a success. We couldn’t do it without them.”

Harborfest is a vibrant, free summer festival held at the end of July in Oswego each year since 1988. This beloved community event, organized by the non-profit Oswego Harbor Festivals, Inc., features live music from more than two dozen bands and performers, delicious food, interesting arts, crafts and products, thrilling rides, great children’s entertainment including the annual Children’s Parade, and the biggest and best fireworks show in Upstate New York.

 

Harborfest[1] 2026 will take place July 23 – 26.
