Several SkillsUSA students at Oswego County BOCES’ Burton Ramer Technical Career Center were awarded scholarships to attend Lincoln Technical Institute/College of Technology by Andy Trugillo, a representative from the school.

The students, all of whom placed in the Regional SkillsUSA Competition held in February at the State University of New York at Morrisville.
The following students received awards: Steven McDougall (Fulton), Computer Systems-Cisco received a $5,000 scholarship for his first place in the Quiz Bowl competition; Robert Miller (Fulton), Construction Technology received a $3,000 scholarship for his second place in Carpentry; Robert Janey (Oswego), Computer Systems-Cisco received a $3,000 for his second place in Internetworking; Vince Hall (APW), Multi Occ2, received $2,000 for his third place in Carpenter’s Assistant; Cody Dolan (Mexico), Heavy Equipment received $2,000 for his third place in Precision Heavy Equipment; Jacob Baker (Fulton), Auto Body received $5,000 for his first place in Collision Repair; Brandon Furlong (Fulton), Auto Body, received $3,000 for his second place in Collision Repair; Nelson Leach (Fulton) Computer Systems-Cisco received $5,000 for his first place in Computer Maintenance Technology; Austin Smith (Phoenix), Computer Systems A+, received $5,000 for his first place in Quiz Bowl; and Kyle Norton, (Oswego), Auto Body, received $3,000 for his second place in Related Technical Math.

Each of these students has the opportunity to add to their scholarship monies at the SkillsUSA State Competition on April 25 with first, second and third place finishes in their competitions earning them additional $5,000, $3,000 and $2,000 scholarships.
